About Totemigraphics

Totemigraphics is a term I created for this unique style of art which is a combination of years of practice with Calligraphy and an appreciation for the various Alaska Native styles of art. Through the understanding of these styles I have created totemigraphics to present my own twist.

The term totemigraphics is derived from totemic or totem which is a representation of an object using symbols and characters.

Totemigraphics, although computer generated, almost always begins as a sketch. Nothing fancy just an idea on paper, a napkin or whatever seems to be handy at the time. The sketch is usually inspired by something I have seen such as an animal or by conversation with a friend. After I have the shapes roughed out I scan the document and begin to computerize the graphic. After the sketch is computerized I can do just about anything with it large or small.
